The Mackie EleMent Wave XLR Handheld Wireless Microphone System is an affordable piece of equipment with some limitations. The manual instructions are inadequate, too small and in confusing languages. The XLR transmitter does not provide phantom power to a condenser mic and only works with dynamic microphones. The Wave receive connect can be connected to whatever device the signal needs to go into. The units can run indefinitely if connected to USB power. The receiver can be connected to a phone with an adapter for the phone to allow an 1/8in connection. A 1/8th to XLR male cable is required to connect the unit to a Mackie dl 1608. The mic is small and neat, it comes at a great price and looks highly compact. However, the noise floor is high, and there is no LCD screen for battery level and other information, only a flashing LED light that indicates the battery percentage. It may not operate at the claimed range of 10 meters. There were reports of sudden and unrecoverable dropouts, which limits the professional usage of the Mackie Wave.
