What are REDSHIFT Aerobars?

REDSHIFT Aerobars are high-performance bike accessories designed to enhance aerodynamics for cyclists. They allow riders to adopt a more streamlined position, reducing wind resistance and improving speed during rides. Benefiting both recreational and competitive cyclists, these aerobars are essential for anyone looking to optimize their biking efficiency. They can be particularly useful in long-distance and time-trial events, where every second counts.

How do the Aerobar extensions work?

Aerobar extensions attach to the handlebars of your bike, enabling riders to position their arms forward and lower their torso. This posture minimizes drag and improves airflow, making pedaling more efficient. Using these extensions can significantly enhance performance, especially on flat terrains. It's a common upgrade for triathletes and road cyclists seeking to increase their speed without additional effort.

What is the purpose of a riser kit?

A riser kit adjusts the height of the aerobars, allowing cyclists to tailor their riding position for maximum comfort and efficiency. This customization is crucial because it helps in achieving the ideal balance between aerodynamics and comfort, especially during long rides. Users with different body types or those who ride in varying conditions will find a riser kit particularly beneficial.

Can these aerobars fit on any bike?

While REDSHIFT Aerobars are designed to be compatible with most standard handlebars, it's essential to check specific dimensions for a perfect fit. They work well on road bikes, time trial bikes, and mountain bikes, making them versatile options for cyclists of all kinds. Always consult the installation guide or reach out to customer support for compatibility information based on your bike model.

Are REDSHIFT Aerobars suitable for beginners?

Yes, REDSHIFT Aerobars can be suitable for beginners, particularly those who are committed to improving their cycling performance. Although they may seem advanced, they offer adjustments for individual comfort levels. Beginners can benefit from proper positioning and increased aerodynamics, making their rides more enjoyable. It’s advisable for new cyclists to familiarize themselves with the installation and usage to maximize the benefits.

What materials are used in REDSHIFT Aerobars?

REDSHIFT Aerobars are typically crafted from lightweight, durable materials like aluminum or carbon fiber, providing strength without adding excess weight to the bike. The choice of materials ensures that the aerobars can withstand rigorous use while offering longevity. This makes them appealing not just for casual riders but also for competitive athletes who need reliable gear.

How do I install the Aerobar Extension Riser Kit?

Installing the Aerobar Extension Riser Kit usually involves loosening the screws on your handlebars, positioning the riser, and tightening it securely in place. Detailed instructions are typically provided with the kit, and it is advisable to follow them closely. A properly installed riser kit ensures optimal performance and safety, ensuring your aerobars hold balance during rides.

Can I use REDSHIFT Aerobars for mountain biking?

Yes, REDSHIFT Aerobars can be used for mountain biking, although their primary design focus is on aerodynamics for road cycling and triathlons. They can provide a stable and aerodynamic stance on flat trails, increasing your speed. However, cyclists should consider this setup primarily on cross-country tracks rather than technical trails where maneuverability is critical.

REDSHIFT Handlebar Accessories RS-11-04 Editorial Review

The REDSHIFT Aerobars Bike Aero Bar Extension Riser Kit is a great addition to any bike setup. It allows for flexibility in adjusting the bar height to suit individual preferences. The risers make a solid connection and do not add any extra weight to the bike. However, they may not be necessary for bikes with stems that already have a positive incline. The kit is easy to install, although the directions could be improved. Overall, it is an excellent product with great customer service.
