Calibrating the scope is easy, just like any other scope, by shooting three shots at a target and adjusting the scope so the center of those shots are in the bullseye. The scope is not calibrated to a specific bullet weight with a certain barrel length, but information on the Burris sight and setup can be obtained. The recoil of a 12 gauge slug is easily handled by the Burris Fullfield II. However, the ballistic reticle will not be set for your specific bullet weight for a Browning Tbolt 17HMR, but it will still fit. Overall, this is a great scope for its price range.
